Everything you need to know before buying hair extensions — from choosing the right method to caring for them at home.

What Are Hair Extensions?

Hair extensions add length, volume, or both to your natural hair. They attach using different methods — some temporary, some semi-permanent — and are available in a range of textures, lengths, and colors.

At PUREDIVINE, all extensions are made from ethically sourced virgin hair — Mongolian, European, and Slavic origins. The cuticles are kept intact and aligned in one direction, which means the hair behaves like your own — it moves naturally, doesn't tangle easily, and can be heat-styled.

Which Method Is Right for You?

Tape-In

Thin wefts applied with medical-grade adhesive tape. Flat against the scalp, comfortable for daily wear, and reusable. Best for fine to medium hair. Lasts 6–8 weeks before a move-up appointment.

Clip-In

Temporary extensions you attach and remove yourself. No commitment, no salon required. Good for occasional use or trying extensions for the first time.

Weft / Sew-In

Hair wefts sewn onto braided sections of your natural hair. Long-lasting and low daily maintenance. Best suited for medium to thick hair.

Micro-Link / I-Tip

Individual strands attached with small metal rings — no heat, no glue. Moves freely and looks very natural. Requires a trained stylist to apply and remove.

How to Choose Your Color

Match to the ends of your hair, not the roots. Extensions blend at the mid-length and ends, so that's where the color match matters most. If you're between two shades, go lighter — it's easier to tone down than to lift.

How Long Do They Last?

With proper care, ethically sourced virgin hair extensions last 12–18 months or longer. The main factors are how often you wash them, whether you use heat, and how well you maintain them between appointments.

Care Basics

  • Wash 1–2 times per week maximum
  • Always brush from ends to roots before washing
  • Use sulfate-free shampoo and a moisturizing conditioner
  • Apply heat protectant before any heat styling
  • Sleep with hair in a loose braid or use a silk pillowcase
